I wandered by chance into y99,
My world changed forever and it became mine,
The fast pace of chat so many names to behold,
I sat shaking with fear then I came became bold.
I now know some quite well and they also know me,
A special friendship of trust, care and honesty,
What would life be with out friends like these,
Although to reach this point certainly isn’t a breeze.
I imagine what life would be now, so sad and blue,
To go through life without that special you,
Through the internet we are like castaways all wandering around chat,
In one room or several and some wear a hat.
The Admin and mods are there to advise,
Be wary and careful as some are not wise,
They oversee and monitor the chat between users,
Some being friendly and some being bruisers.
We chat, we laugh and sometimes we cry,
But one thing is certain we return again to try,
To find our feet in a virtual world full of fear, fun and delight,
Whilst maintaining our own sense of worth and what’s right.
The true friends who we meet online are a very special kind,
They pierce your shields and see within the corners of your mind,
They’re always there when you need with their power to discern,
They feel your sadness and pain and offer hope and genuine concern.
We bare our souls, expose our hearts and show our inner fears,
Eventually you realise that the keyboard is stained with your tears,
If we could see those friends through the screen then you couldn’t deny,
That to be a true friend they too must cry.
It’s a minefield of jokers and players alike,
It takes some skill to determine as to who takes a hike,
That being said of one thing I’m sure
I will be a member of y99 forever more!
